Southern Uplands
From rugged Galloway to the sweeping rounded hills of the Borders, the remote Cheviots and to Edinburgh’s own Pentland skyline, the Southern Uplands give easier walking than many of the mountains further north while still providing ample adventure in a deeply historic region. The routes in this volume are easily accessible from Edinburgh, Carlisle and Lanarkshire and include varied walks around Moffat, Biggar, Peebles, Galashiels, Selkirk, Melrose, Jedburgh and more. Many take in sections of the Southern Upland and Pennine Ways, with some sneaky incursions into England to add to the adventure.
Areas covered:
The Galloway Hills
Lowther and Moffat Hills
Border Country: Clyde and Tweed
Edinburgh and Lothian: Arthur’s Seat to the Pentland, Moorfoot and Lammermuir Hills
Border Raids: Cheviot and Langholm Hills
